Benefits of having a make up artist on your wedding day

Here are just some of the benefits of having a professional make up artist like myself to do your make up on your wedding day!

  • You have got your perfect dress, jewellery and shoes... don’t leave yourself out. There is nothing worse than panicking that your make-up hasn’t gone as you would have hoped before you walk down the aisle. Let a professional take care of that.

  • Your make up will need to last throughout the day and evening. Only professional quality products combined with a make up artists’ skills and tools will achieve this.

  • When you look back through your wedding photos in years to come you want to remember how gorgeous you looked and felt on the day. Only professional, high definition products will give you that flawless look behind the camera as well as in front of the congregation.

  • Consider paying for hair and makeup (or a portion thereof) as a bridesmaid’s gift. Your photos and video will look better if all the girls have professional beauty services, rather than those parties where some girls have professional hair and makeup done and other girls do their own. High street makeup doesn’t last as long or show up as well on high definition cameras.

  • An experienced team will do the work of planning a hair and makeup schedule and have you and your bridal party ready on time. The order of hair and makeup appointments should be organised to allow the bride to relax and have the people she needs to help her with certain things be available when she needs them.

  • Professional makeup is one of the most affordable services you can book for your wedding. Most people won’t spend much time looking at place cards and favours, but will be looking at you, the bride, in person and in your photos and video. Don’t shortchange yourself on your wedding day.

Can not control my excitement!

Mac finally releasing a brow collection!

The Stylish Brow

"Plucked, penciled, sharp and shaped, natural-looking, diva arched-the eyebrow, as revealing, individual and expressive as the eye itself. With a collection of professional shades and tools, M·A·C elevates the brow to an art form."

Now I LOVE a brow so as you can imagine I simply can not wait for this product to get to the UK. The products in the collections are...

  1. Fluidline Brow Gelcreme - Long-wearing waterproof gel in a pot for giving precise definition to brows. Applies smoothly, sets quickly for the ultimate well-groomed brow. Fills, lengthens and shapes for subtle to dramatic looks.
  2. Eye Brows - Self-propelling, self-sharpening, brow defining. Confidently adds what you need: shape, colour, density in one streamlined tool. Like a pen, creates its own just-right point. Provides definition, shape, deepens/fills in colour. Creates striking arches. Easy to tote around. No sharpener needed.
  3. Veluxe Brow Liner - The artist's pencil of perfection. It fills, shapes and defines with a rich powdery formula that's matte and velvety smooth.
  4. Slant Tweezers - A slant-tipped tweezer designed with texturized tips for no-slip "grab-ability". Effortless in action. Angled tips allows for easy for shaping, and cleaning up of the brows. Made from high-quality satin-finished metal. Provides pro-class feel and performance. Comes in its own zip-lock pouch.
  5. 208 Angled Brow Brush - Applies colour to the brow. Use to define or add "fill". Its precise angled tip provides pro-style application. Synthetic / natural blend fibre. Use to apply powder, liquid or cream products.
  6. Brow Duo - Comes in Blonde, Redhead & Brunette. A perfect pairing of complementary powder colours, one satin, one matte that blend beautifully on brows to match a range of shades
I can't wait to try these products and I will certainly be posting about them again once I get my hands on them!

My only doubt is Mac are essentially just rebranding some products from their mainline collection (slant tweezers/208/eye brows), the eye shadows are also from the mainline but in handy, colour ready duos. I also wonder how different the Fluidline Gelcreme is to our standard Fluidline?

Never the less I'm still very excited!

My Favourite Products!

Ok, so here is a post about my favourite products which mostly consist of products I use for my daily make up routine! These products are also ones that suit my skin type, you may find all these products won't work for you as you will need slightly different products depending on your own skin type/colouring.

I have combination skin (Oily in the t-zone and dry on the outer face) I'm naturally fairly pale with cool toned skin and I have green eyes which is why the following products suit me...

SKINCARE PRODUCTS

I have always used NO7 skincare, mostly because my mother does and they were my first products. I must say I haven't actually tried numerous amounts of brands as I have always found it does the job!

NO7 Beautiful Skin Eye Make-Up Remover - Fully removes all eye make-up which is important to me as I wear a lot of it, especially on a night out!

NO7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Lotion - Again this product is great at removing heaving foundations and leaves the skin feeling soft too!

NO7 Soft and Soothed Gentle Toner - This hydrating formula is essential to the skin regime and can often be over looked. Not only does it restore the correct chemical balance in the skin, which makes it easier for your skin to absorb moisturiser, but it also pick up any impurities or dirt that the cleanser might have missed. This is a great product for people with oily or acne prone skin.

NO7 Beautiful Skin Day Cream - The final step of my skin care regime and the most important, Moisturiser! Choosing one specific to your skin type is important (NO7 do a range for each skin type) but I like this one as it contains SPF which is important to prevent your skin ageing!

FACE PRODUCTS

M.A.C Strobe Cream - I love this product! Either under my foundation or sometimes mixed in this cream is magic! Made up of ingredient that boosts the look of dull, flat and tired-looking skin to give you that healthy glow that lets face it, who doesn't want?!

M.A.C Studio Fix Fluid - No matter what foundations I try I always come back to it! This oil free foundation is great for my t-zone and gives a natural matt finish with very good coverage! It doesn't feel too heavy and lasts well throughout the day. Personally this is a winner for me, giving a flawless finish every time!

M.A.C Mineralize Skinfinish Natural - This is a beautiful powder, does the job but still gives a dimensional finish which makes it my fave!

EYE PRODUCTS

M.A.C Fluidline - versatile! Use it as a base, an eyeshadow, a smudged liner, or a crisp winged liner! My most used colours are Blacktrack and Dipdown!

HD Brow eye brow palette - Highly pigmented powders that define the brow with a stroke of a brush! I have had a growing love for brows over the last year or so and this product is brilliant for helping frame your face.

M.A.C Haute and Naughty Too Black Lash - My currently favourite mascara, with its double wiper system this can be used for day or night! Its also a really intense black which I love! Finally a mascara where I feel confident not having to wear falsies with (thats a big deal coming from an Essex girl!)

LIP PRODUCTS

M.A.C Lip Pencil (Spice) - Neutral pinky/brown lip liner that seems to go with all daytime colours, or sometimes I wear this all over the lip with a gloss or balm on top!

M.A.C Lipstick (Rebel) - Love this gorgeous purple/pink berry lip colour! I get so many compliments every time I wear it, Its long lasting too!

Carmex Classic Moisturising Lip Balm - Original, Cheap, the best... If its not broke don't fix it as they say!

HAIR PRODUCTS

Kerastase Nutritive Bain Satin (Shampoo) & Kerastase Nutritive Lait Vital (Conditioner) - My favourite shampoo and conditioner, on the expensive side but great for keeping your hair healthy through its daily battle of blowdrying, straightening/curling and backcombing!

TIGI Bed Head Superstar Blowdry Lotion - This creates such a thick, volumised and bouncy blowdry and its heat protective too... Perfecto!

NAILS

Unfortunately I do have my nails done in salon but I still thought I would share them with you. I always have glitter gels which I adore and receive so many compliments about! Here they are in gold...

TOOLS

These are all the basic must have brushes in my opinion!

M.A.C 217 Blending Brush - Great for blending any eye look

M.A.C 239 Eye Shader Brush - Another good eye brush good for building up intense colour.

M.A.C 266 Small Angled Brush - For created sharp lines with eyeliner, brows or even lips!

M.A.C 130 Short Duo Fibre Brush - In my opinion essential for flawless foundation.

M.A.C 168 Large Angled Contour Brush - Blusher or contour this brush is great for applying powder products to the face

M.A.C 116 Blush Brush - Great for all over powder or bronzer

So there you have it, my favourite products! I hope you found this interesting, I aim to start writing more blogs, so if there is a particular topic you would like me to cover please let me know!

Lost Property Vintage A/W Collection

Here are some photos of the make up looks I created for Lost Property Vintage and their A/W Collection!

Look 1
Glitter Brows

Yes thats right - Glitter brows! For this we used a purple glitter to match in with some of the clothing. We kept the rest of the look quite mute with a plain matt base and a slight flush of pink blush, a black winged liner and a nude pink lip. I also gave her a massive bun to give the brows a chance to shine!

Look 2
Berry Lip

A favourite this A/W the berry lip! I made this shade with MAC Russian Red and mixed in a little MAC Cyber. I teamed this with a very sculpted base and eye with a smudged brown liner. I kept her hair quite natural by drying it in plaits then giving it a good backcombing!

Look 3
Brights

Colour Colour Colour - to go with Lost Property's vision of brightening up winter with brights and glitter we took these thoughts into the make up with peacock coloured smokey eyes using greens, blues, browns and blacks and bright pink lips! Leanne's hair also matched this theme with gorgeous orange and pink slices through the front. Who said brights were just for summer?!

After writing this post I wonder what are your favourite looks this A/W and what looks will you be wearing at your festive parties this year?

Limited Edition Vaseline!

Its here! The gorgeous limited edition Pink Bubbly Vaseline available exclusively at Selfridges!

Being the kind of girl who dreams about a Champagne lifestyle, I simply could not wait to get my hands on this little baby! It has super cute packaging and has a gorgeous smell of what I think is more like a pink grapefruit than Champagne?! But never the less, I am in love!

Coming in at £3.49 some may think this is quite 'pricey for a bit of petroleum jelly'. I think it is worth every penny, what lady doesn't need a bit of Pink Bubbly in their life!
